The sun is stationary and different planets like the earth are orbiting the sun and different satellites like the moon are constantly orbiting the planets like the earth.  So the moon revolves around the earth at the same time as the earth revolves around the sun, centering on the solar system as a whole.

We need to keep in mind that solar eclipses occurs in new moons and lunar eclipses occurs only full moons in which the moon, earth and sun are in a straight line.  In fact, because light travels in a straight line, the straight direction of light is such that if an opaque object is placed, the light is obstructed by that object and a dark shadow zone is created behind the object.  Solar eclipses and lunar eclipses are a natural example of the formation of opaque objects.

There are many social customs or superstitions or myths about solar eclipses and lunar eclipses in many underdeveloped countries.  Many people think that this form is due to Rahu-gras or some divine curse but in reality these are one natural phenomenon.

SOLAR ECLIPSE:

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon falls between the sun and the earth in the new moon, orbiting the earth in its respective orbits.  In such a position, when the moon comes in a straight line between the sun and the earth, the light of the sun creates opaque obstructions.  The sun is a vast source of light and the moon is a small opaque object.

Total solar eclipse:

As a result, when the cone-shaped shadow formed by the moon falls on a very small part of the earth, no part of the sun can be seen from that place.  In such a situation, a complete solar eclipse occurs for the people of that part of the world so that they cannot see the sun from that small part of the earth.

Partial solar eclipse:

On the other hand, a partial solar eclipse is a partial solar eclipse from the  penumbra part of the earth that can be seen on that Earth's surface is called partial solar eclipse. Such partial solar eclipses can be seen in the penumbra region of the moon on the earth.

Ring eclipse or ring solar eclipse:

The distance of the moon from the earth is not always equal, so the moon often fades before it reaches the earth, so the divergent cone that is formed touches the earth.  As a result, people in that part of the earth see a dark circular part in the middle of the sun and a circle of light around it. Such an eclipse is called a ring eclipse.

 LUNAR ECLIPSE:

A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth moves in a straight line between the sun and the moon on some full moons as it orbits.  At this time of the full moon, when the earth is in a straight line between the sun and the moon, no part of the moon can be seen when the shadow of the earth falls on the moon, and this phenomenon is called lunar eclipse.

  Full lunar eclipse:

The moon has no light of its own and the moon is illuminated by the light of the sun.  When the moon is completely in the shadow region of the earth, the moon cannot be seen from the earth in any way and at this time a full lunar eclipse occurs.

Partial lunar eclipse:

On the other hand, if some part of the moon is in the umbra and some part is in the penumbra region, then the partial part of the moon is seen from the earth, then it is called partial eclipse or partial eclipse of the moon.

Since the Earth's shadow cone always crosses the Moon's orbit because the Earth is many times larger than the Moon, the Moon never takes a ring.

Watch the video given below to clear it audio-visually.

Since the orbits of the earth and the moon are not on the same plane and the two orbits are tilted at an angle of 5 degrees to each other, the moon does not come in the shadow of the earth on every full moon, so there is no lunar eclipse on all full moons.

On the other hand, the moon's shadow does not fall on the earth in every new moon, so the solar eclipse does not happen in all new moons.

Reviewing the history of solar eclipses and lunar eclipses, it can be seen that these occurred at different times when the sun, moon and earth rotate, and then the solar eclipse or lunar eclipse ended to change their respective positions.  There are currently several solar and lunar eclipses in 2021.

Recently 2021: 04 eclipses

Recently 2021 will see different types of solar eclipses and lunar eclipses on four dates.  A full lunar eclipse of three hours and twenty three minutes will be observed on May 26, 2021.  It will start at 3pm and end at 6:23 pm.

A ring solar eclipse will be observed at 1 hour 58 minutes on June 10, 2021.  It will begin at 4:43 p.m. and end at 6:41 p.m.

A partial lunar eclipse will be observed again on November 19, 2021.  It will run for three hours and 29 minutes from 12:48 pm to 4:17 pm.

At the end of 2021 a full solar eclipse will be seen on 4th December 4 hours 8 minutes.  It will begin at 10:59 a.m. and end at 3:07 p.m.

In the case of solar eclipses, it can only be seen on the date of the new moon and its stability will be much less because the earth revolves from west to east and the sun revolves from east to west just as the moon revolves around the earth, so the linear position changes.  That is why the solar eclipse does not last long on the day of the new moon.

On the other hand, when the moon orbits the earth in the same way as the earth orbits the sun on a full moon during a lunar eclipse, the lunar eclipse lasts for more than three to four hours for the earth and the moon to move in the same direction.

It should be noted that just as solar eclipses and lunar eclipses have a special relationship with the new moon and the full moon, the dates of the new moon and the full moon make a significant contribution to the ebb and flow of the tide.  This position is called the connection when the moon is in the same straight line between the sun and the earth during the new moon.  In this case, the combined gravitational force of the moon and the sun acts on the water surface of the earth and there is massive water inflation in the seas and oceans.  This form of tidal wave is called tidal wave due to the attraction of the moon and the sun.

On the other hand, during the full moon, when the earth is in the same straight line between the sun and the moon, the tides are seen on both sides of the earth due to the attraction of the moon and the sun.  In this case it is important to note that the tide of the new moon is stronger than the full moon because during the new moon the combined gravitational force of the moon and the sun on the same side of the earth is effective but on a full moon night the moon on one side of the earth and the sun on the other side attract the water of the earth.
