Radioactive contamination is the process of processing and using a variety of radioactive substances, obtained from nature or artificially created. The future of radioactive contamination will be witnessed in the way the research on radioactive substances and the overuse of various nuclear substances is increasing in different countries in the present world. This radioactive contamination, based on the atomic bomb or nuclear power plant, is one of the deadliest issues in the world today.
The emission of radioactive
substances such as uranium, thorium is due to man-made nuclear fission, nuclear
fission and fusion, and radiation from various sources such as cosmic rays and
carbon-14 in the atmosphere and thorium, uranium in the crust and radon radium
in water. Radioactive contamination on
human health demands a special discussion.
The Chernobyl accident:
The Chernobyl accident, known as the Chernobyl accident in
the World, occurred on April 26, 1986, due to mechanical faults and negligence
on the part of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. For this purpose, nuclear power was generated
from uranium fuel at the power plant.
Observations in the aftermath of the accident showed that the uranium
inside the reactor suddenly overheated and exploded while the electrical
disturbance was being fixed by disconnecting the safe reactor of the nuclear
reactor.
Just as the Chernobyl accident immediately killed workers
and scientists, so does the radioactive pollution have long-term effects on
people living within a 30-kilometer radius of the center.
It took 10 days to control the fire that spread around
Chernobyl after the accident. As a
result of such accidents, various radioactive rays mix with the air, causing
air pollution, as well as radioactive material contaminates water and soil
extensively.
Bhopal gas accident in India:
The explosion that took place at midnight on December 3, 1984
in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, India, after the Union Carbide
Company's pesticide factory leaked toxic gas, is known as the Bhopal Gas
Accident. This Bhopal gas accident was
caused by the explosion of tanks filled with MIC gas. This MIC gas is a volatile and a toxic gas
that, if not cooled, undergoes a chemical reaction.
Various observations following
the accident showed that the refrigerator in the MIC gas filling tank had
malfunctioned and due to various negligence, the gas of the gas tank got into a
small amount of water, which caused a lot of pressure due to various reactions
and a huge explosion in the MIC gas filling tank.
People suffer a long-term side effect
after such an accident. Just as nearly 4,000 people died in the aftermath of
the accident and 500,000 people were directly affected. It has a deadly effect on the nervous system
and the balance of the human brain.
Radioactive pollution has a devastating effect on human life. As a result of such pollution, various diseases are seen in the human body. Various serious diseases like vision loss, memory loss, nervous weakness, blood cancer, anemia, abortion and infertility in women, lung and liver cancer etc. are caused.
We often cause radioactive contamination in various ways due to competitive mentality which leads us to lead ourselves to various incurable diseases.
Radioactive
radiation causes a special irreversible change between the chromosomes of human
cells and germ cells. This is called genetic mutation. Just as genetic mutations can lead to skin
and bone cancer, so too can genetic mutations continue to be passed down
through the generations.
So considering the long-term
dire consequences of radioactive pollution, people need to be much more
careful, especially the developed countries of the world, to use nuclear and
radioactive substances in a much more conscious way.
As coal, oil etc mineral is on
the verge of depletion as a resource in the present world, but the population
is constantly increasing, nuclear power along with solar energy, wind energy,
etc. are essential for power generation.
Current scientific observations show that the huge amount of electricity
that can be obtained from nuclear energy cannot be obtained from any other
source, so the United States, Norway, Germany, Russia, China, India and other
countries have built nuclear power plants. The world's first nuclear power plant was
established in 1956 at Calder Hall in Britain.
Since the nuclear power plant is
a model for the current technological development, it is just as important to
maintain this trend of development as it is to refrain from various unnecessary
and inappropriate acts. It can be seen
that many powerful countries of the world are often demonstrating by detonating
atomic bombs. Since mankind is the best
nation in the world, we need to have a balance of excellence in our thoughts
and ideas and focus on mutually friendly development without displaying nuclear
or radioactive energy among ourselves.
