India is the seventh largest country in the world  in terms of area and the second largest in terms of population.  On 15th August, 1947, India established itself as an independent state under British rule.  Geographically, India's location is very important on the map of the world because the land surrounded by water on three sides is rare in the world.  Reviewing the history of India, it is seen that different nations like Mughals, British, etc. came to India from different parts of the world at different times targeting India's geo-natural and cultural infrastructure and left their mark for a long time.

ü     The largest state in India is Rajasthan and the smallest state is Goa.  The largest union territory of India   is the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the smallest union territory is Lakshadweep. 

ü     The highest population of India is seen in the state of Uttar Pradesh and the lowest population is seen in Sikkim. 

ü       In India, Delhi has the highest population density and Arunachal Pradesh has the lowest population     density. 

ü   There are twenty-two state languages ​​recognized by the Constitution of India, among them Hindi is   most useful and the main connecting language is English.

ü     The total number of districts in India is more than 685 and Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of districts(72) and Sikkim has the lowest number of districts(04).

v     India is the second most populous country in the world and in 2021 the population will be around 140 crores. 

v      In India, about 53 per cent of the population are males and 47 per cent females. 








   As per 2011 data, the population density of India is about 385 people per sq km but the highest   population density of Bihar is about 1105 people per sq km.

v      According to 2011 data, the average life expectancy in India is 66 years.

v   The female infant mortality rate in India is 58 per 100 infant. Haryana & Rajasthan has the highest   female ratio of 943 per 1000 population. 

v    The three biggest megacities of India are Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.

v     Mumbai is the largest city in India and the smallest city Goa.

v     Delhi is the second most populous city in the world and Mumbai is the fifth most populous city in the   world. 

v      About 18 percent of the world's population lives in India and about 20 percent in China. 

TRANSPORT:

Ø        In terms of length, India railways ranks fourth in the world  and second in terms of roads. 

Ø        Rail service in India was first introduced in 1853 from Mumbai to Thane and it is one of the largest       management of rail transport in World and the railway sector has been divided into sixteen  regions for   well management. 

Ø         The longest national highway in India is NH-7 and it is also known as NH-44(at present).  

        The shortest national highway in India is NH-47A, located in Kerala. 

        The busiest road  in India is NH-2. It is known as G.T Road.

Ø        The largest airport in India is the Jaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai and the busiest  airport in India is the     Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. 

Ø     The first Metrorail service in India was started in Kolkata in1984 and now there are Metro Rail   systems in seven cities in India namely Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Mumbai and       Jaipur.

Ø        Mumbai is the gateway to India and the economic capital and largest port of India. 

Ø        Navaseba which is known as Jaharlal Nehru Port in Maharashtra is the most technologically advanced    port in India. 

Ø           Kandala in Gujarat on the west coast is a duty-free port with a normal harbor.

ko     The Konchi is called the Queen of The Arabian sea.      

Ø      The fastest train in India is the Shatabdi Express at a speed of about 140 km per hour.  The fastest   superfast train is the Rajdhani Express with a speed of about 130 km per hour. 

Ø      The longest train in India is the Prayagraj Express running from New Delhi to Allahabad. It has more   than 24 bogies. 

Ø        The most expensive train in India is the Palace of Wheels. It is used for tourism in Rajasthan.

       The Maharaja Express also travels from Mumbai to Delhi & The Golden Chariot between Karnataka   and Goa are also expensive trains in India. 

Ø       There is no railway in  Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Sikkim and Meghalaya the Indian.  

Ø       In India, the Golden Quadrilateral project is involved in the road transport system and the Diamond   Quadrilateral project is involved in the railway transport system.
